Dec 2021 Christmas Newsletter - 16.12.2021Greetings NRCT supporters, It has certainly been a challenging year and we hope you’ve come across a few silver linings along the way. Here are a few of our highlights.
Unlock a Cure for Parkinson’s Fundraiser - 29.07.2021
Unlock was the word of the evening and we certainly unlocked a good time, a few laughs, perhaps a tear, but most overwhelmingly amazing generosity.
With over $178k raised, we were humbled and encouraged by the willingness to contribute to my dream of a cure for this robbing disease called Parkinson’s. To know that we are doing all we can to prevent others from suffering my fate is something worth beating the drum for. Kaye and I will gladly match the sum raised.
Our heartfelt thanks to all our generous sponsors, suppliers and attendees. Particular thanks to fantastic entertainer and MC, Frankie Stevens, sponsored by JRD Advisory - such a special rendition of I Have A Dream; Montana Food & Events for unlocking our tastebuds with an incredible menu and the table wines; Hillcrest New World for keeping us well hydrated; Nancy Caiger, Caiger Charitable Trust, for our first-time use of the Galabid auction system and Wintec for the use of the wonderful Atrium venue.
Now the inspirational researchers can take the next steps to Unlock that cure!
Exclusive Dinner Event - 26.10.2019
A wonderful occasion at the Crosby home for 38 attendees, including Sir Richard Faull and the NRCT team. Guests sat down to a wine matched, delectable catered meal, and enjoyed an entertaining, educational and outstandingly successful evening. Bernie and Kaye matched the donations made and all up an impressive $167,681.30 was raised for research.
The Great Gatsby Exclusive Long Lunch - 14.10.2018
What a day! The weather gods were kind to us with the sun shining as we sat enjoying a wine matched delicious lunch whilst being entertained at the Crosby home. Even more kind was the generosity from those that provided services in support of our event, as well as the people that came and enjoyed themselves whilst contributing very significantly to a great cause.
Parkinson’s research is the benefactor of the $80k raised and attending guests heard from Dr Brigid Ryan of the great work that the Centre for Brain Research is doing in Auckland. It is very gratifying to be supporting a team that is doing this important work.
Exclusive Dinner Event - 27.10.2017
Our final fundraiser for the year was a dinner at our home for 30 men catered by Kerr and Ladbrook and matched with wine from Mills Reef. It was an outstanding success with Sir Richard Faull bringing a human brain along to explain its workings so it was educational as well as a great opportunity to celebrate the raising of $1m of funds for the research programme. As well as the celebration, people dug deep into their pockets and, with Crosby’s matching, we raised just over $100,000. To all attendees - we had an enjoyable night and thank you most sincerely for your gestures made on the evening.
Men In Black Evening - 29.04.2016Our MIB “Make it Big” dinner held in Hamilton on 29 April raised $111,273 and this figure was matched by the Crosby family. It was an outstandingly successful and enjoyable night and we sincerely thank those attendees who gave on the night and for the generosity of those who committed to monthly pledges.
Swing For Neuro Research Charitable Trust - 23.04.2015
Craigs Investment Partners Swing for Neuro Research Charitable Trust Golf Event was held at St Andrews Golf Course in Hamilton. The Chiefs were in attendance and a Chiefs player joined each of the golf teams. The weather was not helpful but this didn’t dampen the spirits or enthusiasm of the participants. The Chiefs very much got into the nature of the day and, to top it off, they supplied a pig on a spit and a recently shot whole deer. Accordingly, the evening meal was very game orientated and kindly contributed to by the Chiefs. Dave Rennie has produced a fine bunch of players where there are no pre Madonna’s, no one up-manship, and you can see they are united as a team. The day of golf was rounded off with the pleasant meal and auction of various generously donated items.
We raised $27,000 for this event which is an extremely good result for a golf tournament. As per the Crosby’s usual generosity - they will match the day’s proceedings so it is very gratifying to have raised over $50k for the day. A very pleasing result.
